Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis

If you’re seeking an advanced career in investments, portfolio management, or security analysis, then earning your master’s degree in Investment Management and Financial Analysis (MIMFA) from Creighton University's Heider College of Business can set you apart from your peers and position you for success.

According to a study published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of financial analysts is projected to grow 12% by 2024, and specific industries—including portfolio management—are projected to grow more than 30%. Median hourly earnings for financial analysts are much higher than other occupations in business and financial operations.

As the industry continues to grow, candidates with a master’s in investment analysis will have a distinct edge in competing for the industry’s top positions. Earning an advanced financial management degree shows that you have the advanced knowledge and skills to grow a business.

“Thanks to our specialized courses, talented students and high-quality faculty, our Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis program truly stands apart from the rest.”

— Randy Jorgensen, PhD, CFA | Associate Professor and Program Director, Heider College of Business

Creighton’s Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis is proud to be one of a small number of graduate programs in the CFA Institute’s University Affiliation Program.

To achieve this recognition, a graduate program must cover at least 70% of each level of CFA exam material. Our classes are designed around the CFA exam content, providing an immersive experience that will prepare you to sit for the exam if you choose. Topics of study include:

  • Ethics and professional standards
  • Financial statement analysis
  • Portfolio management and performance measurement
  • Risk management
  • Security analysis

All Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis faculty members have earned their CFA credential and are a highly valued resource to students interested in pursuing a CFA.

To earn your optional CFA designation, you must pass a series of three exams. These exams are notoriously difficult and require a great deal of study to pass. According to the CFA Institute, some candidates report spending more than 300 hours studying per exam level. Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis classes are designed around the CFA exam, so studying for your class will also help prepare you to sit for the exam.
