Dr. Randy Jorgensen is a professor of finance in the Master of Finance (MFin) and Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis (MIMFA) programs at the Creighton University Heider College of Business. He teaches classes in ethics, portfolio management, corporate finance and investments. He enjoys studying the entire span of financial markets – including how corporations fund their operations to grow, how financial markets operate and how corporations utilize those markets, how financial assets are valued and traded, and the behavioral actions and biases of the investors in those assets.
His teaching philosophy is to first determine what he thinks students should know about a topic and then build an experience that best helps them learn that information.
Dr. Jorgensen received his BSBA in banking and finance and MA in Economics from the University of North Dakota. He went on to pursue his PhD in Finance from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. In between his undergraduate and graduate studies Dr. Jorgensen was a bank examiner with the Comptroller of the Currency and a commercial loan officer.
His ongoing research interests include ethics, portfolio management and investments.
In addition to academia, Dr. Jorgensen enjoys managing his personal investments, golf and traveling to national parks.
